Served in the US Army Security Agency at Phu Bai, South Vietnam near the DMZ from 1970 to 1971. From 1971 to 1972, I was stationed at Udorn, Thailand and was honorably discharged with the rank of E-5. Was diagnosed in 2005 with ALS after numerous diagnostic tests to determine why there was weakness and muscle atrophy in my right hand. My medication has thus far stopped the progression, but for how long. I struggle to perform daily activities such as taking a shower; brushing my teeth; eating a meal and signing my name. I pray that a cure for ALS will be found so we can live normally.
