Jim was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He grew up in Jacksonville, Florida and was commissioned as an officer in the US Army upon graduation from Florida State University. He was a veteran of the US Army, and he served his country for 12 years as a helicopter scout platoon and company commander. Jim courageously battled this disease for four plus years. During that time, he was the same compassionate, straight shooting, dignified man everyone knew him to be. He exuded grace and honor. In March of this year, he lost the battle with ALS.
