I got a degree in Applied Mathematics by working all day and going to college at night. I went to work for NASA at the Johnson Space Center. I worked there for 28 years as a Project Manager in Automation and Robotics. I retired in 2015. The same year I began having problems swallowing. In April of 2016 my speech became slurred and I was subsequently diagnosed with ALS at the Wake Forest ALS Clininic. I have lost my ability to speak and to swallow. I love to cook but can no longer eat. ALS is robbing me of the things I love. My hands are weak and it is no longer safe for me to drive.
