The most recent fiscal year was highly unusual for nonprofit organizations around the world. The global public health crisis created uncertainties in almost every aspect of our work at The ALS Association, requiring us to react quickly and strategically to ensure minimal disruption to our mission and direct services to the ALS community. This pivot is evident in our FY 2021 Form 990, our annual tax filing document, which details Association spending and expenses for the year.
You’ll notice some differences in our reporting this year that break from patterns and trends established in prior years. For that reason, this year we are providing some aids to help you interpret the drivers behind some of the expenses and revenue we are reporting. Click on the red arrows on our interactive Form 990 to activate a pop-up window that offers insight into the line item. You can also read more about this year’s 990 in this blog post. We are also sharing a helpful document from Candid that offers a convenient tutorial on how to read the Form 990.
