People living with ALS can access communication and assistive devices such as caregiver call chimes, voice amplifiers, and augmentative communication equipment for individuals who have lost their ability to verbally communicate. The program is meant to serve those who do not have insurance coverage for a device or those in need of a short-term loan while awaiting insurance coverage. The program can connect you with community speech-language pathologists to assist with insurance paperwork. The Communication and Assistive Device Program also helps people with ALS maintain their independence by providing computer access equipment and/or environmental control devices.
