The Respite Program provides respite care grants for ALS caregivers. Respite care is the provision of short-term, temporary relief to those who are caring for family members with ALS and who might otherwise require permanent placement in a facility outside the home. The grant ranges between $1,000 to $3,000 and is available twice a year.
Caregivers of patients with the following support systems do not qualify: Patient with Medicaid Assistance, Patient with Aging Assistance, Patient on Hospice, Veterans with ALS, Patient with LTD or Nursing Home Insurance.
The Respite Program is only available to individuals with ALS residing in Southern Illinois.
