The ALS Association Continues National Collaboration with Mitsubishi Tanabe Pharma America

Washington, D.C. (May 31, 2019) — The ALS Association is pleased to announce the continuation of its national collaboration with Mitsubishi Tanabe Pharma America, Inc. (MTPA), which has resulted in significant support of the Walk to Defeat ALS program, various national conferences and events, and an extensive care grant distributed to The ALS Association chapter network.

“We are grateful for Mitsubishi Tanabe Pharma America’s continued willingness to rise to the challenge and support us in our fight for a world without ALS,” said Tina Zeff, executive vice president of development for The ALS Association.

The collaboration with MTPA helps the Association address obstacles people living with ALS often face when trying to access care-related services.

"We are pleased to support The ALS Association and its important work in communities across the United States,” said Atsushi Fujimoto, President, Mitsubishi Tanabe Pharma America. “We share a common goal to help as many people with ALS and their families as possible access the care and service they need to extend both length of life and quality of life.”

ALS is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord. Eventually, people with ALS lose the ability to initiate and control muscle movement, which often leads to total paralysis and death within five years of diagnosis. For unknown reasons, veterans are twice as likely to develop ALS as the general population. There is no cure.
