My Father was very proud to serve his country in World War 2 and Korea. In 2000, my Father was diagnosed with ALS. For 8 years he was able to be at home with my Mothers help. The last 2 1/2 years were a different story. He was in and out of the hospital and nursing homes until he couldn't walk any longer. He spent the last year of his life in a nursing home, never asking for anything. He fought ALS with courage and strength. He never complained. Dad lost his battle on October 3rd 2011.
