Permobil Renews Partnership with The ALS Association

Washington, D.C. (June 14, 2019) — Permobil, the world’s leading manufacturer of power wheelchairs, and the Permobil Foundation have once again joined forces with The ALS Association as a national-level partner to offer support and enhance the quality of life for people living with ALS.

ALS, or amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord. Eventually, people with ALS lose the ability to initiate and control muscle movement, which often leads to total paralysis and death within five years of diagnosis. There is no cure.

“Our ongoing support of The ALS Association is unfaltering, as is their fight to find a cure for this devastating disease,” said Ashley Davis, Executive Director of the Permobil Foundation. “We remain passionate about supporting the Association in their efforts to find treatments and one day a cure for all of those affected by ALS, until that day comes we hope that we can continue to help with the gift of mobility."

Through this partnership, the Permobil Foundation will support the Association through their efforts in local Walk to Defeat ALS events across the country. Since 2000, Walk events have raised more than $318 million to support the vision of The ALS Association.

"We’re proud to renew our long-term partnership with Permobil. Their past support has helped us make strides in our fight against ALS, and their renewed commitment is key keep to keeping the momentum going forward," said Tina Zeff, executive vice president of development of The ALS Association.

In addition, Permobil will be collaborating with the Association at the 2019 National ALS Advocacy Conference in June to advocate on Capitol Hill for the ALS Community. This is the single largest annual gathering of the entire ALS community in the country, including people living with ALS and their families, care services professionals, chapter executives, and ALS clinicians and researchers.
