An avid member of the NCWT and a frequent demonstrator, Jim was diagnosed in December 2014 with ALS. Even when he had lost the use of his hands, he continued to give instruction and host demonstrations. Jim left behind many rough-turned wooden bowls when he lost his battle with ALS in January 2016. In his memory, the members of the North Coast Woodturners finished these bowls for the 2017 Strike Out! ALS Gala & Auction.
