I was a Marine for two years, first at Camp Lejeune and I later served in Puerto Rico. I boxed and played basketball as part of my service as well as working on an airstrip in PR. I developed primary lateral sclerosis (often a pre-cursor to ALS) and was diagnosed in 2009 after having episodes of weakness in my legs. I now am unable to walk and see my world becoming smaller each day. I once was very active, playing sports and working hard physically but now watch a lot of old Gunsmoke episodes and take naps.
