Joseph Nolan

Branch: Marines
Served: 1969 - 1972
Hometown: Forest City, Pennsylvania

I joined the Marine Corps in 1969 because a lot of friends were joining the service and it seemed like a good fit for me. I served my duty stateside in North Carolina, South Carolina and California, rising to the rank of Corporal. When I returned to Forest City, I joined the police force, rising to the rank of Assistant Chief. All I ever wanted was to do my work and go home. The Veterans Administration has been very helpful in addressing ALS. I'm grateful for all I have been able to do in my life and was thrilled that my community honored me this year as a Distinguished Citizen.
