My father was a Navy Signalman during World War II. My mother never knew where he was shipped off to until after he had left the specific location. During that time, my oldest sister Kathy was born-he saw her for the first time months later. Back then, they didn't have the advantage of Skype or Facetime! My father passed after a brief fight against ALS in 1975. He was a father of five and we think of him and miss him every day.
