My husband served in the Navy CeeBees from 1967 to 1973 and was then in the Navy reserves for about 13 years in Knoxville, TN. He was wounded twice while serving in Vietnam and was hospitalized in country. His primary job was to help the Vietnamese people build hospitals and schools in the villages. He was recognized by the Vietnamese Government for his service. He also served with the Army Mac-V while he was in Vietnam, but that work was not something he ever talked about. Derald was a wonderful, gentle person and because of that he suffered terribly from PTSD until he passed away. We had 25 wonderful years together and he did all on his power to take care of me, our children and grandchildren.
