A New Year's Update from Your Massachusetts Care Services Manager

As we begin this new year, the Massachusetts Care Services Team has hit the ground running, continuing to improve the programs and services we deliver to families affected by ALS throughout the Commonwealth. Our Chapter strives to support every person living with ALS and their families in Massachusetts, predominantly in areas and spaces that other support mechanisms do not reach.

The ALS Association Massachusetts Care Services works as a TEAM, coordinating and collaborating with YOUR support network, the agencies YOU are working with, to advocate and help navigate the complex system of health care, home care, insurance, loan equipment, and provides support to access resources around the state.

All programs and services are provided free of charge, allowing the people we support to live life to the fullest and alleviating some of the financial burden of ALS. Our purpose is to build and empower our community through continuous engagement with family, friends and neighbors.  For a snapshot of our programs and how we can assist you or a loved one, we invite you to visit the Care Services section of our website.

We’re excited to roll out some new things for you all this year (just to name a few)! Stay tuned for “Your Massachusetts ALS Resource Center”—a 1 stop resource shop for your ALS needs! We’re also looking forward to providing more informational Virtual Community Groups with guest speakers and organizations as well as offering a new educational program for caregivers and professionals! Our Chapter’s Speech and Language Pathologist, Jennifer Chapin, will be working diligently to expand our Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC)/Assistive Technology (AT) loan program through a grant we received, to be able to provide more services and supports to those living with ALS.

Please do not hesitate to reach out to the Massachusetts Care Services Team for any questions, concerns or needs you may have.  We are always here for you, and happy to help in whatever way we can!
