November 8, 2024 (Dallas, TX) – The ALS Association is deeply grateful to the Tyler Street Foundation for awarding $50,000 to launch the Stacy Crowder Quality of Life Program in a six-county region of the Dallas metroplex. Thanks to the Foundation's generosity, the ALS Association has been able to respond to and fulfill 25 grant requests since February of this year, totaling $35,100 in direct support to ALS patients and families.
The additional financial support provided to ALS families in the Dallas Metroplex has helped with a number of ALS-related expenses including travel expenses to clinic; doctor and therapy appointments; respite care and assistance for caregivers and families; durable medical equipment, such as manual wheelchairs; home modifications, like doorway ramps; medical care and medication; communication devices; and educational programs and training. Additionally, this funding provided financial assistance to families seeking resources and support for bereavement and grief.
The Tyler Street Foundation is providing this funding opportunity in memory of Stacy Crowder, who lost his battle with ALS in 2020. The Foundation wants to ensure that others living with this terrible disease are relieved of its great financial burdens.
