Become a Volunteer

Did you know volunteers are the driving force behind our fight against ALS? They are – and you can be one too!

Each year, thousands of volunteers participate in care services programs, ALS advocacy, and numerous event and fundraising activities. We recognize the vital role volunteers play in helping support our mission, and we're committed to ensuring involvement is positive, impactful, and meaningful.

Here are some of the ways you can get involved:

Event Volunteers

There are a variety of events hosted in local communities nationwide, and when you signup to volunteer with us, you help us create an unforgettable experience for our participants, families, and supporters.

Volunteers assist with setting up and breaking down event sites, welcoming guests, registering participants, distributing materials, and other tasks to help the event run smoothly. More detailed information and job descriptions are communicated when you register. This is also a great volunteer opportunity for groups!

Volunteers under age 18: Please reach out to us regarding opportunities for high school students/minors under the age of 18. Parents who bring minor children to volunteer will be asked to fill out a waiver.

Check our calendar for upcoming opportunities near you!

Event Planning Committees

Event planning committee volunteers play a crucial role in organizing and executing community events. As a volunteer, you'll collaborate with staff and other volunteers to create memorable experiences that support our mission and engage our community.

There are many ways to help, even if you do not have event planning experience! Volunteers assist with event logistics, promotion in their network/community, recruiting participants, connecting with potential sponsors, and brainstorming unique ideas to help enhance the overall event experience.

Volunteer Advocates

We are at the forefront of public policy, working to improve the lives of people living with ALS and their caregivers. By joining as a volunteer advocate, you'll help amplify awareness, drive advocacy efforts, and provide vital support to those living with ALS and their caregivers.

Our advocacy work focuses on educating and mobilizing all policymakers in a nonpartisan fashion to achieve our mission: to discover treatments and a cure for ALS, and to serve, advocate for and empower people affected by ALS to live their lives to the fullest. Volunteer advocates receive training on how to support this work, both in their local communities and nationally.
