Steve Greer

Steve joined the Board of Directors in March 2021 to help those battling ALS fight today for their tomorrow. As a person living with ALS since 2017, he knows first-hand the daily challenges for the patient, family, and caregivers. ALS first takes away your identity, then your dignity, and finally your life, but it cannot take away hope. Together we may yet find the cause and a cure. In Steve’s own words:

“Each person's journey with ALS is unique, and a roller coaster of emotions for the patient and the family. I am in a street fight for my life, have compartmentalized my fears, and ride the waves of uncertainty with joy and gratitude for still being very much alive. Every day is a gift, which is why it is called the present. Living In the moment was an unexpected blessing. My faith remains greater than my fears, and together with my wife children, grandchildren, friends, neighbors, and support network, I continue to do better than expected and will never give up.”

After a long tenure at Microsoft as a Managing Consultant in the services organization, he is now retired and focused on ALS.org community, active participation in the Blue Ridge Ride, Richmond Walk, Congressional Advocacy, and as a Pharmaceutical Patient Board Advisor. Steve and his wife Jeanne live in Keswick, VA.
