Steve Hanon became involved with the ALS Association after his wife was diagnosed with the disease in 2020. Sadly, she lost her battle with ALS in 2023 at the age of 61. “I have a passion for the mission and the skills to help on both the strategic and financial fronts of the Association,” he says. “At this stage in my career, I am intentionally focusing on causes that matter to my family and community.”
Steve is a seasoned finance and operations executive with a distinguished career spanning global companies in the consumer, media, retail, and education sectors. Based in St. Louis, Missouri, Hanon brings decades of expertise in strategic financial planning, operational excellence, and leadership across multinational markets, including Europe, China, and South America.
He currently serves as Chief Operating Officer of AEON Learning Sciences, where he leads finance, operations, and administration for an innovative online education platform. Previously, Hanon was a founding executive at Avenues The World School, where he drove the launch of international private schools in the United States, Brazil, and China and oversaw operational and financial strategies. He has also held senior roles at PepsiCo, Scripps Networks, and Polo Ralph Lauren.
Hanon is deeply committed to community service, contributing his financial expertise as a member of the Association’s Finance Committee since 2023. He also serves on the finance committee and chairs the nominating and governance committee at Delivering Good, a non-profit based in New York City. He holds an MBA in Finance from Washington University in St. Louis and a BS in Management from Purdue University.
Steve currently lives in St. Louis with his family. In his new role on the Board of Trustees, he aims to advance the mission of ending ALS through impactful financial stewardship and strategic collaboration with Association management and organizations dedicated to finding a cure.
