Rebecca first got involved with the Texas Chapter of ALS Association in 2011 when she learned her favorite law school professor lost his battle with the disease. Rebecca saw how quickly the disease can rob someone of their ability to do the things they value most in life when she sat in the last class her professor ever taught, just two years after his diagnosis. Rebecca began her work with the Texas Chapter by serving on the Austin Walk to Defeat ALS Committee. In 2013, she was invited to join the Board of the Texas Chapter and went on to serve as Chair of the Public Policy Committee. Rebecca currently serves as Vice President of the Texas Chapter and Chair of the Texas Chapter’s Governance Committee.
Through her trips to Advocacy Day and involvement with the Texas Chapter, Rebecca has met so many incredible PALS and caregivers. Unfortunately, Rebecca learned that as she continues to dedicate her time to the ALS Association, the list of people she knows and who have lost their battle with ALS grows at an unacceptable pace. This motivates Rebecca to always do more. As the Vice President of the Texas Chapter, Rebecca has been a part of and witnessed incredible efforts to serve PALS and their families. From the response to Hurricane Harvey to helping identify solutions to serve PALS throughout the sprawling geographic area that is Texas, Rebecca has seen firsthand the amazing things that can happen when people work together to fight ALS.
Rebecca lives in Austin, Texas where she serves as Senior Counsel for the Ledcor Group of Companies.
