The Atlanta, Georgia resident experienced firsthand and up close the entire life cycle of a person diagnosed with ALS through his close friendship with Marsh Douthat who lived for two short years after his ALS diagnosis. Stancil became involved with the Georgia Chapter of The Association through Marsh’s wife Cynthia. Cynthia, prior to an early passing from a brain tumor was a member of the Board of Trustees and a long-time advocate for ALS having also lost her father to ALS.

Stancil has served as Board chair of the Georgia Chapter as well as serving on the chapter’s Finance Committee. He has served on the Board of Representatives, on the Finance Committee of the Board of Trustees as well as serving as Chair of the Investment Committee.

Stancil currently works for Goldman Sachs as a wealth advisor in their Personal Financial Management Division. In his position he is responsible for investment management of client portfolios of affluent individuals and families, endowments, foundations and other institutional investors.

A graduate of the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, North Carolina, Stancil earned the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation in 1992 and is a member of the Atlanta Financial Analyst Society and CFA Institute.
