Born and raised in Connecticut, Lou Libby pursued a medical career with a specialization in Pulmonary Medicine. After completing his medical training in Colorado Dr. Libby moved to Portland, Oregon, to establish his practice and placed a special emphasis on serving patients with ALS. As a practicing physician with Oregon Clinic and the lead Pulmonologist at The Providence ALS Center, Dr. Libby helps patients with ALS on a daily basis as they manage their respiratory symptoms and make life and death decisions.

As a founding board member of The Oregon and SW Washington Chapter, Dr. Libby’s 12+ years of chapter board service, including the last two years as Board President, has made a significant contribution to improving the resources available for families living with ALS. Besides his family’s generous financial support of the chapter, Dr. Libby is generous with his time volunteering at chapter events and being the public face of the chapter with local media appearances.

Dr. Libby received his BS from Tufts University, his doctoral degree from George Washington University School of Medicine, and specialization pulmonary medicine at the University of Colorado School of Medicine.  He and his wife, Jocelyn, live an active life in Portland and are proud of their three adult children, two sons and a daughter. In his spare time, he enjoys tennis, hiking, cycling and travel.
